ISACorps Alumni Recognition

Audra Clodfelter (2010) works at Foundant Technologies and recently presented best practices to scholarship providers at a regional training event in St. Pete Beach, Florida. As an implementation consultant for a grant and scholarship management company, Audra trains users on creating "rightsized" and mindful scholarship applications that reduce the burden on students and their families. Drawing on her ISAC background, she also educates others about how financial need is calculated and how to effectively collect and use this information in scholarship evaluations.

Bridgette Wall (2016) serves as the sole Academic Advisor for the RN-BS program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), a role she has held for nearly a year. Bridgette holds a position on the Professional Development Committee for Advisors at SIUE and is teaching a section of the First Semester Transition course during the Fall 2024 semester—all while keeping up with the demands of raising her energetic 2-year-old. Kudos to Bridgette on all her achievements!

Pedro Moncada Jr. (2012) was recently recognized at the International Rescue Committee's (IRC) Global Rescue Dinner in New York City for his heroic efforts in rescuing and reuniting three Afghan girls with their parents in the United States. His story was shared with major donors, celebrities, lawmakers, and athletes; he was praised as a hero and received personal thanks from IRC’s President David Miliband. Pedro was humbled by the honor and opportunity to be recognized by the prominent figures and prestigious donors at the event. Read more about Pedro’s impactful work.

Carmen Zapata (2014) recently began a new role as Senior Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. As a new leader, Carmen is finding fulfillment in supporting her co-workers and fostering a collaborative team environment. She has particularly enjoyed navigating the complexities of working with study abroad students, ensuring they have the financial guidance needed to achieve their global education goals. Carmen’s dedication to her team and the students she serves reflects her passion for making higher education accessible and empowering others to succeed.

Cory Washington (2013) recently celebrated the significant milestone of passing his comprehensive exams, officially becoming a Ph.D. candidate for Higher Education Adminstration. This achievement reflects his resilience, countless hours of dedication, and the support of a strong community. As Cory looks ahead to completing his dissertation, he is committed to contributing meaningfully to his field and embracing the transformative journey of higher education.

ISAC’s College Access Symposiums

The most recent College Access Symposium this fall brought together the best elements of our FAFSA and PaCE Symposiums in an inspiring one-day event. Attendees explored innovative ways high schools and organizations across the state are preparing students for postsecondary and career success, emphasizing the pivotal role of financial aid in achieving their goals. It was a joy to connect with many alumni at Moraine Valley Community College (MVCC) and Lincoln Land Community College (LLCC). We look forward to welcoming even more alumni next year as both attendees and presenters!

Laura Monteagudo (2014) presented with her colleague at ISAC’s College Access Symposium held at MVCC. Their session provided an overview of the College and Career Pathway Endorsements under the Postsecondary and Workforce Readiness (PWR) Act, highlighting how they prepare students with career-ready skills and postsecondary readiness. Participants explored resources to support essential skills development for college-level work and entry-level career opportunities.
