ISACorps Alumni Recognition

Ethan-Osborne image

Ethan Osborne (2021):

After his tenure with the ISACorps, Ethan found a passion for working in college admissions. He has worked for the past three years at Eastern Illinois University in the Office of Admissions and is excited to join the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in August. Working with students and families in Central Illinois and within the Midwest region, he is looking forward to wearing orange and blue this fall. Ethan says that his years with the ISACorps gave him the skills to thrive professionally and personally and will do the same for you!

Katie-Eilers image

Katherine Eilers (2009):

Katherine recently presented at the National Council for Research Administrators (NCURA) National Conference in August 2024 in Washington, D.C. on designing a career ladder for her team. Her session covered the development of rubrics to support informal leadership, strategies for driving change that secured upper management's approval, and methods for ensuring the ladder is free from bias to foster a more inclusive team.

Lydia-Alvarez image

Lydia Alvarez (2021):

Lydia just graduated from UIUC with her Master’s in Education Policy and was recently selected as a Fulbright grantee! She will be spending the next year teaching and engaging the community in Spain. She is so excited to be able to utilize her Fulbright award to see how school systems work abroad.

Patrick-Wildman image

Patrick Wildman (2012):

Patrick has worked in education for the last 12 years, and just started his eighth year as a school counselor at Beardstown CUSD 15 in West Central Illinois. He is actively involved in the Illinois School Counselor Association (ISCA) and was recently elected Board Chair for the 2024-25 school year. As part of his work with ISCA, Patrick helped to pass legislation that supports school counselors and other stake holders to help students succeed. He enjoys working with his colleagues from around the state.

Janelle-Norman image

Janelle Norman (2013):

This past July, Janelle became an alum of the Surge Institute! “The Surge Fellowship has equipped my cohort with the tools to grow individually and increase our impact in the lives of young people in Chicago as a collective,” said Janelle. “Our students deserve a world in which education leaders come together to think critically and explore how best to serve them, especially in the wake of the pandemic and the challenges it has exacerbated. Professionally and personally, I longed to be part of a community of peers who will challenge and support one another along the journey of leadership development.” Being a part of Surge came at a point in her life when she was ready to learn from and connect with others on a deeper level. Now she is more excited to become more impactful in her work as a result.

Sarah-Carter image

Sarah Carter (2020):

Sarah successfully defended her MA thesis with distinction! In her thesis, "'Happiness, she supposed': Phenomenological (Un)happiness, Race, and the Tragic Mulatta in Nella Larsen’s Quicksand," she analyzed Nella Larsen's vexing first novel through the lens of happiness in order to return to the literary trope of the tragic mulatta, which Quicksand explores. She earned her Master of Arts in English Literature from Colorado State University.

Jacqueline-Salinas image

Jacqueline Salinas (2010):

Jacqueline was honored as Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy’s (IMSA) June Titan of the Month! She is incredibly thankful for the support and collaboration of her colleagues in advancing the school’s mission. IMSA’s administration mentioned that their June’s PROMISE program was an incredible success, thanks to Jacqueline’s tireless dedication and hard work.

Shauntee-Randle image

Shauntee Randle (2014):

Shauntee received the honor of President’s Distinguished for her service as MetroBoard President at the Chicago Urban League! We are so proud of her as she served with her fellow Chicago young professionals!

New Corps Members Received Welcome Letters from Alumni!

On the last day of Corps Con training, 28 first-year Corps members individually received personalized, heartfelt welcome letters from alumni. Our team made every effort to pair each alum with a new Corps member from the community college district our alum had previously served. The letters were filled with words of encouragement and support—a welcome embrace from the ISACorps™ community. As they read the messages, the Corps members' excitement and anticipation for their journey grew. Our alumni experience and advice help provide a sense of connection and belonging. ISACorps members remarked that the welcome letters left them feeling motivated and ready to embark on their new roles. Thank you again to all the alumni that submitted welcome letters, your commitment to the Corps is truly appreciated!
