Maria Amill (2020)

Since the summer of 2023, Maria has been working as a financial aid administrator in the scholarship and waivers unit at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This past year brought both challenges and celebrations—her family experienced a loss, but she also celebrated her marriage in November and took an exciting step by purchasing her first home after relocating closer to Champaign. Maria expresses gratitude for her time in the ISACorps and the ongoing support she receives as an alum. Sending our best, Maria!

Zuleima Nolasco (2017)

Zuleima credits her time in the ISACorps with sparking her passion for higher education and student support. She is now approaching her fifth year as a Financial Aid Counselor, where she continues to guide and empower students on their academic and financial journeys. Over the years, Zuleima has found fulfillment in helping students navigate the complexities of financial aid, ensuring they have the resources needed to succeed. She remains committed to making a meaningful impact and looks forward to continuing her work in higher education. Congratulations, Zuleima, on this milestone!

Caleb works with high schools and higher education institutions to increase access to financial aid for students experiencing homelessness by ensuring institutional policies are in alignment with federal and state policies, and by creating resources and sharing best practices in the field. SchoolHouse Connection provides strategic advocacy and practical assistance in partnership with early childhood programs, schools, institutions of higher education, service providers, families, and youth. Vincente-Torres image

Vincente Torres (2017)

Vincente’s time with ISACorps was not only a career-defining experience but also a life-changing one—he met his future wife, Rosalinda, during training, and together, they recently welcomed their firstborn! Vincente moved from the ISACorps to working in financial aid at Loyola University Chicago before achieving his lifelong dream of becoming a Chicago Police Department officer. In addition to serving his community, he enjoys traveling, working out, and watching movies. Reflecting on his time with ISAC, Vincente is grateful for the skills he gained, particularly in public speaking, financial literacy, and in developing a greater understanding of the diverse educational pathways available to students. These experiences continue to shape his journey, both personally and professionally.

keeayla image

Keeayla Jones (2017)

After four incredible years serving students at Uplift, Keeayla and her family embarked on a new journey, relocating due to her husband's military service. While saying goodbye to her counseling team felt like leaving family, Keeayla’s passion for supporting others remains unwavering. Before her move, she earned her LCSW and launched her private practice, Phases of Change PLLC, where she helps young adults navigate self-worth, perfectionism, and life transitions. She is committed to creating a safe space for those carrying the emotional weight of change. Connect with Keeayla and learn more about her work.

Yanika Barfield (2018)

Yanika recently started a new role as a Student Support Specialist at the College of DuPage, returning to the district where she began as an ISACorps member. This full-circle moment allows her to continue supporting student success. She’s also embracing parenthood with her 15-month-old son, who brings endless joy and adventure. Recently, she hosted the Power Forward Career and Resource Summit at Triton College for Workforce Equity Initiative (WEI) students, a rewarding experience. Before transitioning roles, she was honored with a nomination for the Commitment to Excellence Shared Values Award at Triton College. Yanika is excited for this new chapter of growth and impact!
